The article deals with the peculiarities of the artistic reproduction of opryshkivstvo in the first edition of the narrative of Gnat Khotkevych «Stone Soul» (1911). The level of assimilation by the author of the historical and folk material about opryshko Marusyak and its transfer to the artistic text. The skill of the author is revealed, which, based on the concrete facts and historical material, managed to construct an interesting plot; filled the text with internal conflicts and collisions that "move" the action of the work.
