The problematic associated to impact factor (and the rankings create with it) is analyzed by examples in the Dialnet Métricas’ IDR. Its nonsense for evaluating researchers or journal is revealed and it is stated that other criteria should be considered, as those included in Dialnet indicators.ResumenSe analizan los aspectos implicados en el cálculo del factor de impacto y su aplicación en la elaboración de rankings, tomando ejemplos del IDR de Dialnet Métricas. Se pone de manifiesto su sinsentido para valorar autores y hasta las mismas revistas, recomendando otras perspectivas, como las que aporta Indicadores Dialnet.
