Welfare differences among nations and regions pose significant problems for their further development at the age of globalization. We argue that the Competitive Identity model as a possible solution is based on liberalism and vibrant civic society and whether it can work in a different milieu is questionable as much as whether the competitive model of life is suitable for implementation of the goals of sustainable development.
