The paper deals with metapoetry, a new branch of linguistics. According to the author, V. Brusov’s metapoetry is based on the works by his predecessors and contemporaries in philosophy, psychology, literature and linguistics. The author concludes that V. Brusov’s metapoetry originates from the theories by Alexander von Humboldt and Alexander Potebnya. V. Brusov’s concept of poetry synthesis, inter alia, is based on the idea of integrity of literary works set forward by A. Humboldt and A. Potebnya.
