The paper analyzes the tales by the Silver Age Russian writers, in relation to Oscar Wilde’s writings and aesthetic views. The analysis of the fairy tales reveals both common features, which were due to similar aesthetic views, and the differences, largely caused by the authors’ national mentality. Both specific plots and images of O. Wilde’s fairy tales and many motives intrinsic to his writings in general have been reflected in the Russian symbolists’ tales, which indicates the English writer’s influence on Russian literature of the Silver Age.
