The paper discusses the iconography of V. Brusov. Well-known portraits done by Mikhail Vrubel (1906), Sergey Malyutin (1913) and Elizaveta Kruglikova (1910s) are considered in the context of works by other contemporary artists. The author shows how the popularity of these portraits triggered an avalanche of imitations and parodies and singles out works portraying V. Brusov and A. Bely together or done by the same artists. A. Bely’s tongue-in-cheek drawings of V. Brusov are also reviewed.
