The author of the article compares «The Fiery Angel» – Brusov’s first novel – with the tragedy «Faust». The comparison revealed deliberate antipodal binding to Goethe. The traditional wandering through the world (Faust) is replaced with the path to inner soul. The greed for everything is replaced with the desire for love. According to the author the adept´s initiation leads just to wisdom and not to love.
