This article analyses the image of the older generation of Siberians in the prose of the modern Russian author Mikhail Tarkovsky, drawing from stories, novellas, essays, and the detailed portrait of the Yenisey people found within the novel Toyota Cresta. The study aims to concretize the very concept of “Siberian” in Tarkovsky’swork, identifying specific generational “types” among the protagonists and enumerating the characteristics of male and female characters based on the analysis oftheir appearance, behaviour, manners of speech, approach to language, and attitudes towards work and nature. In addition, the article touches upon such problemsas the continuity of generations and generational conflicts.
