The article investigates the significance of echoes chant (the Znamenny chant) in the culture of Muscovy, the emphasis is maid on it’s style features and artistic device and the group of images and ideas, which are expressed by echoes chant. The influence of sacralization of system of sighs of the echoes chant on the culture and consciousness of old Russian is also considered in the article.
