The article presents the group of Jewish vagrants living outside the communal structures. A large part of this group consisted of educated people without regular positions in their communities. Although Jewish sources do not contain specific terms for these people, their existence caused many religious and social problems for the communal leadership, which had deal with wandering beggars, preachers and merchants, and attempted to keep them under control.
