The article entitled “…Сhtoby korova pogulyala” (“…let your cow graze”) provides an overview of relatively unknown materials on Slavic producing magic related to fruit trees. The author examines rituals, customs, prohibitions and recommendations. The author intends to show how the tradition establishes a dialogue between two typologically close cultural symbols that represent the concept of fertility and are its carriers – the fruit-bearing tree and the cattle. The article also discusses the analogies with these symbols of fertility in the cultural vocabulary and phraseology.
