Summary A 20‐point examination guide is offered as a model for speech pathologists to use in broadening their knowledge of the aphasic patient's behavior beyond the limits afforded by standardized and published aphasia tests. Although the guide's major purpose is a focus on the patient as a potential candidate for language therapy, it also discusses the examination strategies used by the clinician to facilitate the aphasic's maximum recovery of language.
