An Experiment in Applying Linguistics to Speech Therapy

“This article gives a description of the language behaviour of a group of five children suffering from severe language learning disabilities. The language state prior to, and during, remediation is outlined. This is followed by a more detailed account of the principle teaching techniques used with these children, including a description of some of the anomalies in their language use that have been of concern. The latter half of the article contains a discussion of particular examples where knowledge from linguistics was incorporated into the teaching programme.”
