Leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata (LPD) is a rare, normally benign, condition usually diagnosed in women of reproductive age. The disease consists of multiple subperitoneal smooth muscle nodules scattered all over the abdominopelvic viscera and peritoneum. The etiopathogenesis of the disease is uncertain. Since cases of spontaneous regression (1) or recurrence (2) as well as rare cases of malignant degeneration (3, 4) have been reported in the literature, management is still controversial.
