A high risk patient, after conization and following abortion, was supervised vaginosonographically from the 12th gestational week. The premature shortening of the cervix, but also its almost pain‐free opening, were observed with the help of this method. It seems that the lower part of the uterus can be readily visualized and objectively assessed' with ultrasonic diagnosis, especially by vaginal sonography.
