Hemorrhagic shock in late pregnancy before labor has become established is most often caused by placenta praevia or abruptio placentae. Unusual causes are intra‐abdominal bleeding from spontaneous rupture of liver, uterus or splenic vessels. Standard textbooks do not discuss intra‐abdominal bleeding from uterine veins and it might therefore be of interest to report such a case.
