. The purpose of an experimental study in guineapigs was to prevent adhesion formation in the intraabdominal space by simultaneous intraperitoneal infusion of hydrocortisone, dextran and chymotrypsin. An examination made three weeks after the operation revealed a highly significant ( p >0.001) difference in favour of the dextran, dextran‐chymotrypsin and dextran‐chymotrypsin‐hydrocortisone groups when compared with the NaCl and control groups.
