. A critical evaluation of the fluorimetric method for the estimation of »total‐oestrogen» in urine described by Brown et al . (4) is presented. Based upon comparison between the resuits obtained through this method with 1) results obtained in other laboratories using the same method, 2) results obtained using a method of high reliability and 3) results using a semiquantitative bioassay it is concluded that the fluorimetric method is of sufficient reliability.
