The article examines the trends in the development of ecological tourism in the world. Particular attention is paid to the development of tourism in the territory of indigenous peoples, including the aboriginal. The characteristics of those traditions and customs of indigenous peoples, which may be of particular interest to ecotourists, are given in detail. At the same time, both positive and negative impacts of ecotourism on the local community are considered. The requirements for the organization of tourism on the territory of traditional communities with limited external relations are highlighted.
