The article presents the results of verification of author's model of the psychological readiness to competition of athletes on a sample of Greco-Roman wrestlers. The substantive aspects and problematic moments in the psychological content of the motivational, emotional, volitional and reflexive components of this model are revealed. The influence of motivation on other structural components of the athletes' psychological readiness for competition has been analyzed. A comprehensive approach to improving the psychological readiness of athletes for competitions is proposed.
