Cardiac disorders turn out to be a serious disease ifnot diagnosed and treated at the earliest. Arrhythmia is acardiac disorder that exists as a result of irregular heart beatconditions. There are several variants in this type of disorderwhich can be only diagnosed only when patient is under anintensive care conditions and also the patient with suchdisorder do not experience and physical symptoms. Suchdiseases turn out to be deadly if not treated early. A detectionsystem is thus required which is capable of detecting thesearrhythmias in real time and aid in the diagnosis. An FPGAbased arrhythmia detection system is designed andimplemented here which can detect second degree AV blocktype of arrhythmia. The designed system was simulated andtested with ECG signal from MIT-BH database and theresults revealed that a robust arrhythmia detection systemwas implemented.
