The subject of the article is a process of interaction between the human and the natural world, whose boundaries are open. The use of intermediate languages in this interspecies communication is touched upon, as well as the possibility of applying the activity theory to its study. It is especially noted the role of gestures as expressive movements that can be both verbal and non-verbal, and which make the basis for interspecies communication taking the character of a play. Conversion analysis is considered as the main method for the direct and systematic study of such communicative interactions, conversation conceptualized as the order which is naturally created and recreated in a particular situation. Examples of this order are given, such as the turn-taking of interaction participants, adjacent pairs, and alignment. The article discusses why communication between the human and natural world cannot be perfect, as well as the optimal strategy for their interaction.
