The modern peculiarities of the transformational processes in the development of Ukraine’s agrarian sphere are analyzed, their reasons and consequences are defined; the polarization processes of agricultural production and population on different hierarchical levels, in suburban, semiperipheral, and peripheral country districts, are examined; the approaches to definition and the typical features of the problem rural areas are described; the regularity of increase in rural space polarization in terms of regional development cyclicity and staging is proved.
