The peculiarities of the tourism functioning in Poland in the first phase of the economic crisis (2008-2011) are investigated. The effects of the global economic crisis on the tourism sector in Poland are analyzed. The Polish experience in tourism crisis overcoming and prospects for tourism sphere development in the future is shown. Key words: global economic crisis, tourism, tourism policy, Poland.
