The article deals with the contribution made by mechanical engineer, Professor of Kharkiv Practical Technological Institute V. Knabbe to the development of mechanical engineering technology field. The author described the directions of his scientific researches and examined his main monographs. The role of the scientist in the development of the late 19th – early 20th centuries Ukrainian industry is analyzed.
