Abstract&#x0D;This article discusses the interpretation of the Qur'an. al-Maidah: 51 using hermeneutic approach .JE Jorge Gracia. In the 2017 QS. al-Maidah 51 had become the public spotlight because Tjahaja Basuki Purnama or Ahok offensive called QS. al-Maidah: 51 in a speech in the Pulau Seribu. The incident was directly addressed by several Islamic organizations. So it becomes a problem in the interpretation of the Qur’an that have an impact on the demo in Jakarta. From this background, the researchers want to try to reinterpret QS. al-Maidah: 51 with a hermeneutic approach Jorga JE Gracia. Gracia has three functions in the interpretation namely, the function of the history, meaning and implications of function function. Without discrediting the fruit functions, terori Gracia very balanced in the interpretation of the text of the Qur’an. Pada tahun 2017 QS. al-Maidah 51 sempat menjadi sorotan publik karena Basuki Tjahaja Purnama atau disebut Ahok yang menyinggung QS. al-Maidah : 51 dalam pidatonya di Pulau Seribu. Kejadian tersebut langsung direspon oleh beberapa ormas Islam. Sehingga menjadi masalah dalam interpretasi al-Qur’an yang berdampak pada demo di Jakarta. Dari latar belakang tersebut, peneliti ingin mencoba menafsirkan ulang QS. al-Maidah : 51 dengan pendekatan hermeneutika Jorga J.E Gracia. Gracia mempunyai tiga fungsi dalam interpretasi yaitu, fungsi sejarah, fungsi makna dan implikasi fungsi. Tanpa menyudutkan satu buah fungsi, terori Gracia sangat seimbang dalam interpretasi teks al-Qur’an. Sehingga dalam proses penafsiran ini, diharapkan dapat menjadi sebuah kajian teks al-Qur’an yang dapat menjadikan umat Islam lebih dewasa lagi dalam menyikapi permasalahan interpretasi khususnya dalam al-Qur’an surah al-Maidah : 51.&#x0D; &#x0D;Kata kunci : Interpretasi, Hermeneutika, Jorge JE Gracia, QS. al-Maidah : 51
