Bell palsy (BP) is the most common neuropathy and accounts for 11.5–53.3 cases per 100,000 people a year. Diagnosis and early identication of the cause of the disease are crucial for successful treatment. The article provides a literature review on the main hypotheses of the main BP causes: anatomical factors, viral infection and immunological factor.
