The role of evaluation in Quality ImprovementNigar HUSEYNOVAAzerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Baku, Azerbaijan The main purpose of this study is to investigate the essence andpurpose of the evaluation in improving quality. It comprises a set oftheoretical and practical methods for examining a number ofinternationally accepted standards and methods for assessing basicresearch methodologies and comparing them with existing evaluationmethods.The evaluation of Quality Improvement is broader than an effectivenessstudy of a distinct intervention, with the intent to generate learning throughsystematic documentation of Quality Improvement inputs, processes andoutputs and using both quantitative and qualitative research methods tofully analyze the data. More work remains to operationalize the evaluationframework, including identifying appropriate methods to rigorously andappropriately capture the impact of Quality Improvement withoutcompromising the iterative, adaptive nature of improvement.The practical significance of the research is to take into account the resultsof monitoring and evaluation to improve the quality and enrich thescientific and practical knowledge of the experts conducting research inthis area.
