This paper has been divided into three parts. Part I sets thebackground of energy for development and some features of the Pakistansituation. Part II shows the need for renewable sources and introducestheir likely contribution in the near future (2,000 A.D.). In the thirdpart, we examine the various renewable sources of energy to obtainestimates of their economics and give broad recommendations.
