The intent of this paper is to delineate the determinants ofthe distribution of income in Rawalpindi city. The basic hypothesis tobe tested is that for each individual, personal earnings are a functionof his socio-economic char¬acteristics such as age, sex, education, andthe like. If the hypothesis bears out, the disparity of incomes withinthe city would then prove to be a conse¬quence of the variation in theseindividual characteristics. It would then be of interest to quantify theeffect of each of these determinants on the eventual distribution ofincome.
