Calcium chloride along with one drop of concentrated HCl is a facile and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of aryl 14 H -dibenzo[ a,j ] xanthene derivatives via one-pot condensation of various substituted benzaldehydes and β-naphthol under microwave and solvent-free conditions. The advantages offered by the present protocol include shorter reaction time, good‑to‑excellent yields, operational simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and easily available catalysts.
