Libraries at the institutional level in school in Bangladesh are deplorable. Various commission have been Framed at various times to inquire into and set up standards and policies, as well as strategies for the eradication of many problems. But since 1971, there have been no improvements in services or facilities, either proposed order placed in practice, in spite of the recommendations of the commissions. Almost no data are available on the school libraries as they now exist, And survey research at the field level on the status of school libraries and librarianship in Bangladesh is badly needed.
