In 1990 the Alberta Legal Information Technology Assessment Project sent a survey to all lawyers on the Law Society of Alberta's mailing list. We asked them to tell us about their use of information sources and information technology in their practices. Over 20% of the profession responded to our survey, an excellent response rate. The survey instrument was based on that used by Professor Vale in his 1987 study of Ontario lawyers, which he very kindly shared with us. The following is Professor Vale's summary of our data.
