The entire existence of human life is based on the environment. Where the balance of the environment balances the development path, it promotes the progress of the development path. The imbalance of the environment, not only the person, is the main reason for the destruction of the entire society and human resources. Sundarlal Bahuguna says that "Man was an integral part of nature at first. His relationship with nature was non-violent and of intimacy. Due to selfishness and indulgence culture, now it has not only changed but has become distorted. "
मानव जीवन का समूचा अस्तित्व पर्यावरण पर आधारित है। जहाँ पर्यावरण का सन्तुलन विकास मार्ग का सन्तुलन विकास मार्ग की प्रगति को प्रषस्त करता है। वहीें पर्यावरण का असन्तुलन व्यक्ति ही नहीं समूचे समाज और मानव संसाधनों के विनाष का प्रमुख कारण है। सुन्दरलाल बहुगुणा का कहना है कि ‘‘पहले मनुष्य प्रकृति का ही एक अभिन्न हिस्सा था। प्रकृति से उसका रिष्ता अहिंसक और आत्मीयता का था। स्वार्थ और भोग संस्कृति के कारण अब यह न केवल बदल गया बल्कि विकृत हो गया।’’
