Corporations as the main and largest economic entities with peculiar features differentiating them from other forms of conducting business activities legally and economically have acquired special significance both in the internal economy and in the global transnational economic relations. It is utterly important to approach the definition of corporations from different angles which will facilitate a better understanding of the underlying characteristics of corporate structures. The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the term “corporation” in a formal sense and in the context of the Russian economic practices.
