The modern development of the consumer cooperation system in Russia is characterized by degradation processes, which requires an analysis of its activities and the identification of problems that impede the increase in the efficiency of its activities. On the basis of such an analysis, it is possible to determine the directions for improving the methodology and efficiency of the functioning of consumer societies and the Tsentrosoyuz. In the article, the authors have made a brief analysis of the functioning of the organizations of the Central Union. It also highlights the problems that hinder the effective functioning of consumer cooperation, identified in the legal, economic and social spheres.
