The article is devoted to the anniversary of V.V. Zhmur – Professor, DSc, CorrespondingMember of Russian Academy of Sciences. He is the Chair of the Program of Thermohydromechanics of the Ocean at the Moscow Institute (University) of Physics andTechnology, leads the Laboratory of Sea Currents at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanologyof the Russian Academy of Sciences, and works in the top management of the RussianFoundation for Basic Research. The article describes the contribution of V.V. Zhmur to thedevelopment of national Oceanology on key scientific papers.
