Priest vestments are an expressive way of a priest, a tool of cult which during the Divine Liturgy is combined with the belief involving clothing and its sacral components into this religious procedure.The article focuses on the peculiarities of colour in imaginative and liturgical sources of priest vestments. The research interprets a religious plot cultural and valuable potential of colouring as weighty priority criterion for defining artistic and stylistic features of folk ornaments in clerical clothing. It was also revealed the bases of colouring which besides the esthetic function have established canonical standards. Liturgical clothing`s combination of colours which have a significant symbolic meaning has been highlighted. The colour scheme of priest vestments on the example of the researched works from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil territories of the given chronical period has been analysed.
