Wellington-based social historian David Grant began his tenure as J. D. Stout Fellow in New Zealand Cultural Studies on 1 April 1999. In broad terms, his project encompasses an assessment of the social and economic impact and importance of horse racing on our recreational, sporting, business and community cultures.
