The objectives of this paper are to describe and explain the fi ra wali (read: my sago my life) movement as the glocalization of the Sentani people in their encounter with modernization. Ethnographic methods and phenomenological techniques were used to obtain data obtained from participant observation, interviews, and literature studies. So far, sago has only been seen as local food, so its existence has received little attention so that the local wisdom of sago has been destroyed by modernization. However, this paper reveals that the glocalization of the movement needs to be done to maintain the cultural identity of the Sentani people. Fi Ra wali has sacred values that give life to society. Thus, this paper concludes that the Fi Ra wali movement is a glocalization of the Sentani community to maintain the sacredness of Fi Ra wali, which is a collective identity and contains social cohesion in local communities.
