The given review discusses the use of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors in patients with cardiovascular diseases, including those with prior acute myocardial infarction. The paper places particular emphasis on the currently available ACE inhibitor zofenopril. It discusses its special pharmacological properties and considers its additional effects associated with cardioprotective, anti-ischemic, antiatherogenic effects.
