The review is dedicated to the first Russian publication of the sketches on Beethoven music by Rein Laul, one of the most prominent representatives of the modern Petersburg analytical school. The study in question appears as a unique work, representing not only the virtuoso technique of analysis and sophisticated analytical tools, but also the organic interpenetration of the academic and emotionally direct character.
