В статье рассказывается о деятельности герцога Максимилиана Лейхтенбергского (1817-1852) на посту Президента Российской академии художеств. Представляются основные вехи его жизни и научного творчества, вклад в развитие археологическо-нумизматического общества, создание «художественно-живописных школ» в Киеве и Тифлисе и другие реформы в Академии художеств. The article describes the activities of duke of Leuchtenberg Maximilian as President of the Russian Academy of Arts. The main milestones of his life and scientific creativity, contribution to the development of the archaeological-numismatic society, the creation of "artistic and painting schools" in Kiev and Tiflis and other reforms in the Russian Academy of Arts are presented.
