For a better understanding of the relationships between the chemical structure and the fluorescence properties of organic dyes a larger group of such dyes which constitute from some common building blocks has been considered. These dyes could be prepared from certain phenolic or bridged aniline educts by simple routes which require, in some cases, new synthetic strategies.
