The article presents biographical data on the life and activities of a prominent scientist, writer, revolution figure of the beginning of the 20th century, organizer and Director of the world's first Institute for Blood Transfusion, born in province town Sokolka, Grodno Governorate, A.A. Bogdanov (Malinovsky) who made a great contribution to the foundation and development of domestic hematology. The results of the study indicate that the childhood years spent in the Grodno region had a significant impact on the formation of the scientist's outlook and scientific interests.
