Data on the life of 13 higher mesogastropods from the Caribbean concerning their living environment and their food requirements are provided. The spawn of Strombus gigas, S. pugilis, Polinices lacteus, P. hepaticus, Natica livida, N. canrena, Morum oniscus, Cypraecassis testiculus, Charonia variegata, Cymatium nicobaricumy C. pileare, Bursa cubaniana, and Tonna galea are described in detail and the hatching young are characterized. For most mentioned species the time of development until hatching was noted. A comparison of the here described spawn with that already known from the literature was carried out in distinguishing 6 general types of egg-case and egg-mass morphologies.
