This paper discusses the role of tutors when engaging with e-learning of foreign languages. Understanding the importance of these roles and identifying necessary tutoring skills is paramount for the success of e-learning solutions. The tutor must be equipped with an appropriate set of skills and attributes in addition to subject matter expertise. He facilitates learning, using a combination of skills that encompass information and IT expertise, expertise in the educational uses of online learning resources and communication technologies. When tutoring, the person should be able to listen to their pupil, possess the ability to understand the areas of difficulty from the perspective of the pupil und be a real enthusiast in teaching, to sit beside the students, solving a particular problem, not in front of them as in traditional education. Certainly good communicating skills, common sense, getting feedback and high-quality material are of high importance. They understand the differences of the students in their classroom. Their goal is to help students grow and succeed. They differentiate instruction, monitor progress, and provide feedback for students, because each student is unique in their own way. They have different cultural backgrounds, interests, experiences, needs, and performance styles. Based on their differences, each one requires different care in order to grow and be successful.
