Currently, on the Russian market there is a steady demand for confectionery sunflower seeds, which contributes to the active development of breeding for large-fruited sunflower. Globally, an edible sunflower with large achenes and high huskness is regarded as confectionery sunflower, while in Russia it is sunflower with smaller achenes and huskness of up to 30 %. The article provides data on the intermediate inheritance in F1 of huskness trait of seeds of large-fruited edible sunflower hybrids. We studied the reaction of three experimental large-fruited sunflower hybrids to changes in plant density. We established that there is a significant effect of this factor on the seed huskness (η=0.8) with a strong negative correlation between these characteristics r=-0.83
