The authors present the results of the monitoring of the sensitivity of herpes simplex virus (HSV) strainsin vitro isolated from 110 female patients with various forms of the herpes virus infection to etiotropic drugs (acyclovir (ACV)), valacyclovir) based on the data provided by the phenotypic method. The authors established that 90% of HSV strains were sensitive to ACV irrespective of the isolation conditions, and the share of non-sensitive strains was 10% while the share of strains that were not sensitive to valacyclovir was not higher than 0.9%. These data are of great value for the evaluation of the pathological process activity, forecast for the disease and selection of an individualized treatment regimen for patients providing for the selection of an antiviral drug and its optimum dose in view of the results of virology studies.
