The article is written in honor of the anniversary of the outstanding ethnomusicologist, doctor of art, Professor Yuri Ilyich Sheikin. The whole life of Y. I. Sheikin is connected with the study and promotion of musical folklore of the in-digenous peoples of Siberia and the Far East. The article describes the significant events of scientific and pedagogical activity of Y. I. Sheikin, characterizes his main works and his contribution to ethnomusicology.
